Eine ganz besondere Tür findet sich an dieser Art-Déco-Villa eines Designers dieser Zeit, Paul Follot, im Montparnasse-Quartier. In den Räumlichkeiten ist das Giacometti-Institut untergebracht, in dem u.a. das rekonstruierte Atelier des Künstlers Alberto Giacometti zu sehen ist, der um die Ecke gelebt und gearbeitet hat.
Seit meinem Paris-Besuch bin ich ein großer Mosaik-Fan, die Steinkunstwerke finden sich nahezu überall an Eingängen, auf Fußböden und an Wänden.

A truly special door can be found on this Art Deco villa in the Montparnasse district, belonging to the designer of that era Paul Follot. The Giacometti Institute is housed within, featuring, among other things, the reconstructed studio of the artist Alberto Giacometti, who lived and worked just around the corner.
Since my visit to Paris, I've become a huge fan of mosaics; these stone artworks can be found almost everywhere – on entrances, floors, and walls.

Man könnte Jahre, ach was, Jahrzehnte damit zubringen, in Paris Türen und Tore zu fotografieren. Ich bin an fast jeder Ecke stehengeblieben … Die Muster, die Farben, das Licht.

One could spend years, nay, decades, photographing doors and gates in Paris. I stopped at almost every corner… The patterns, the colors, the light.

Spektakulär verhüllt: Pont Neuf. Zwar soll dieses Kunstwerk von JR einen Steinbruch nachempfinden, ich musste aber an Klimawandel und Gletschereis denken … vermutlich wegen der grenzwertigen Hitzewelle.

Spectacularly shrouded: Pont Neuf. Although this artwork by JR is supposed to recreate a quarry, I couldn't help thinking about climate change and glacial ice … probably because of the extreme heat wave.

Ist Paris eine Steinwüste? Ja und nein. In jedem Viertel gibt es lauschige grüne Flächen. Und unglaublich viele Menschen fahren Fahrrad.

Is Paris a concrete jungle? Yes and no. Every neighbourhood has lovely green spaces. And an incredible number of people ride bicycles.
